My thing about people saying “social justice just makes people more mad! You’re making it worse!”
Do you fucking think that even Dr. King’s appeasing ass had white people on his side…? Like do you think he was saying the things he said and white people sat and fucking listened consciously and kindly and then made the decision to change things out of the goodness of their hearts?
I’ll help you out: they didn’t!They were mad as fuck, they felt like black people were being ungrateful and should’ve just been happy that slavery was over and “ended a long time ago” sound familiar?
They felt like black people had a sense of entitlement for wanting to be treated equally — sound familiar?
What about the fact that they felt like black people were making a big deal out of everything instead of seeing things as “just the way it is”
Malcom X, Dr. King, Cathleen Cleaver Angela Davis, Huey Newton and all of the other leaders weren’t met with welcome arms when they changed the world either! I’m okay with ruffling feathers, I’m okay with giving white people 1/1,000,000th of an ounce of their own medicine, I’m okay with the fact that a shit ton of white people are not okay with people of color wanting to be treated in a just manner because I know that when the civil rights movement happened the entire country that wasn’t making laws still felt the same way they had always felt about people of color! The laws just changed and there wasn’t shit they could do about it! I want attitudes and laws changed still. This is where my platform for that begins though.
So I don’t feel bad at all that white people make anti social justice blogs because they’re uncomfortable by the thought of people being treated justly! How fucking telling is that? I mean really…
